“It’s not your daddy’s Jimmy’s Egg anymore”!

When Loc Le, a Vietnamese refugee who came to America in 1975 seeking asylum, bought the business from Jim Newman, who founded the original Jimmy’s Egg, you didn’t see “Garbage” on the menu! Oh no, menu staples revolved more around traditional breakfast fare: pancakes, bacon, eggs, waffles and toast.

According to Mendi Landgraf, Marketing Manager, “not surprisingly, the bacon and eggs breakfast is the most popular entrée ordered”.

“We use Hormel thick cut double smoked bacon and our eggs are always fresh and cracked-to-order,” she said.

What might be surprising is that the “Garbage” breakfast is also very popular. The base is hash browns topped with grilled onions, bell peppers and sausage and served with two eggs cooked-to-order. The sunny-side up version keeps the rest of the heap moist and yummy because of the runny yolks.

More of a scrambled egg aficionado? Add a side of biscuits and gravy to provide that juicy delectable flavor. Your other choice of side is a selection of homemade bread including the raisin bread which tastes more like a dessert!

Landgraf said, “Biscuit Debris is another popular entrée. Two homemade buttermilk biscuits with creamy country sausage gravy, grilled sausage and ham, topped with melted cheddar cheese.” What a way to wake up those five senses, especially taste!

In case you are a Jeopardy fan and they ask how many versions of a Jimmy’s Egg omelette there are, well the correct answer would be “What are 40,000”. That’s right 40,000 ways to Create Your Own three-egg-omelettes! Ingredients to select from include ham, sausage, turkey sausage, bell pepper, tomato, onions, potato, spinach and six different cheeses!

“We recently introduced Skillets, which are home fries topped with scrambled eggs and a variety of toppings,” Landgraf said. Select from Meat Lover’s Skillet, Farmer’s Skillet, Fiesta Skillet and for the health conscious, the Almost Healthy Skillet, comprised of egg whites and turkey sausage.

Savory Bacon and Cheddar pancakes have also recently debuted on the menu.

While “the combination may sound interesting, they are definitely worth trying and by adding syrup to the pancakes you get a delicious combination of sweet and salty that can’t be beat,” says Landgraf.

New lunch menu items have also been added. The Smoked Turkey Melt features smoked turkey breast, bacon and tomatoes topped with melted cheese on homemade bread.

The Smothered Burger highlights a juicy burger patty topped with grilled onions, mushrooms and melted Swiss cheese on a slice of homemade bread.

And for those in the calorie/carb counting cohort there is the Skinny Jimmy based on low-fat yogurt topped with fresh fruit, a side of granola and a toasted English muffin.

But the champion new menu item, coming soon, and guaranteed to grab your taste buds is the Gourmet cinnamon roll with cream cheese frosting.

All Jimmy’s Egg locations are open seven days a week from 6 a.m. – 2 p.m. They only close on Thanksgiving and Christmas.

It may not be your daddy’s Jimmy’s Egg anymore but by expanding the menu and providing friendly service with a customer focus, made-to-order food and great prices it’s all about you. Come create your version of an omelette or try an existing menu offering at “Your Jimmy’s Egg”.
