OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City plans to host the first annual U.S. Drone Film Festival on April 30, 2016. Film viewings will take place at the Oklahoma City Museum of Art (OKCMOA).

As development in unmanned aerial vehicles rapidly increases, the U.S. Drone Film Festival seeks to promote, encourage and celebrate the economic and environmental benefits of small drones, as well as overcoming the negative stigma associated with drones.

Cinematographers, journalists, flyers, buyers, academia and all interested individuals are invited to attend the highly anticipated film festival. In its inaugural year, drone enthusiasts from 44 countries have submitted 183 shorts films in hopes of being presented at the festival. The festival will also consist of networking opportunities for attendees and TED Talk style presentations on the commercial, recreational and philanthropic uses of drones by industry experts. “The U.S. Drone Film Festival is a platform where attendees will have the opportunity to listen to experts, learn about the many benefits of unmanned airvehicles and enjoy the outstanding short films taken by drones”, said Ersin Demirci, founder of the festival and Ph.D. candidate in Aviation and Space Sciences at Oklahoma State University.

Demirci goes on to mention that Unmanned Aerial Systems represent the fastest growth area in the aviation industry today and have tremendous benefits to consumers in many practical and promising ways. It should be noted that benefits of this technology include aerial photography, precision agriculture, disaster management, consumer delivery, gas pipeline and oil rig inspections.
