Sara Sant’Ambrogio’s Chopin on the Cello features collection of iconic classical music

EDMOND, OKLAHOMA – On Thursday, Jan. 14, Grammy winning cellist Sara Sant’Ambrogiowill return to ArmstrongAuditorium to present a solo recital entitled Chopin on the Cello. Sant’Ambrogio has received international praise for her thrilling performances.

Sant’Ambrogio began her career in 1986 with a bronze medal at the Eighth International Tchaikovsky Violincello Competition in Moscow. She has since won multiple international competitions, including The Whitaker, The Dealey, Artists International and Palm Beach Awards, and received the Grammy Award for Best Chamber Music Performance for Bernstein’s “Arias and Barcarolles” on Koch Records.

She is a founding member of the internationally renowned Eroica Trio, which received the Naumburg Award in 1991 and went on to represent Carnegie Hall worldwide as the official chamber music ensemble in 1997. The Trio has released eight recordings for Angel EMI Classes Records and has received multiple Grammy nominations.

Chopin on the Cello is a recital comprised solely of work by iconic Polish composer Frederic Chopin– known for writing almost exclusively for the piano. The program features his two cello masterpieces: Sonata for Cello and Piano, Op. 65 and Polonaise Brillante for Cello and Piano, Op. 3, as well as transcription of Chopin’s most beloved works, arranged for cello and piano.
