OKM Music Festival’s Woolaroc Finale Concert Set for June 15

BARTLESVILLE, Okla. (May 2, 2018) — What better venue to celebrate the great music of Western movies than at Woolaroc Wildlife Preserve and Museum near Bartlesville? The OKM Music Festival is doing just that on Friday, June 15.In the natural amphitheater near Clyde Lake, the festival is ending its 34th season with Western movie themes performed by the Tulsa Symphony Orchestra with conductor Ron Spigelman.

“Enjoy a concert that celebrates our great and vast continent with a musical journey across the plains, through the fields and from sea to shining sea,” said Spigelman. “The evening features composers such as Copland and his iconic music from ‘Rodeo,’ John Williams and his sweeping overture from the classic John Wayne film ‘The Cowboys, Ferde Grofé who successfully uses the full palette of orchestral colors to recreate the glory of the Grand Canyon, and also a flurry of reels and jigs that will test your resolve to keep your feet from moving in Hayman’s ‘Pops Hoedown!’

The always popular Woolaroc Concert also entertains festival-goers with opening acts from the Delaware Tribe, Children’s Musical Theatre alums and OKM Conservatory students. Gates open at 5 p.m. and children’s activities, giveaways and vendor booths precede the music offerings of the evening. Of course, the traditional fireworks display caps the festivities.

In case of inclement weather, the concert moves to the Bartlesville Community Center. Local media will broadcast any change of venue.

The OKM Music Festival celebrates several music genres from June 9-15. The entire family has an opportunity to enjoy a three-band Country Fest, a Concert Under the Stars and a Chamber Series. Several free Showcase concerts and plenty of children’s activities round out the festival offerings.

OKM Music aims to enrich the community with life-enhancing musical experiences and inspire youth who may go on to pursue careers in music. With help from its patrons, local businesses and the Oklahoma Arts Council, OKM brings year-round music and youth outreach to Bartlesville.
