It’s Party Time! As National Seafood Month Approaches, Celebrate With a #Seafood Party

The non-profit Seafood Nutrition Partnership (SNP) is planning for a fall celebration of seafood beginning in September, leading up to festivities commemorating National Seafood Month in October. The two-month #SeafoodParty invites Oklahoma’s party planners and game day hosts to add seafood to the menu of their next party by teaming up with professional party planning organization House Party.

SNP is using this fun, social approach as an opportunity to get across a more serious message about Oklahoma’s current state of heart health and the actions we can take to help remedy the situation simply by eating delicious seafood meals.

Heart disease remains a troubling issue for Oklahoma, with heart disease being the leading cause of death in the state and accounting for 1 in 4 deaths each year, according to the Oklahoma State Department of Health.

SNP is teaming with House Party to find party hosts from Oklahoma City and equipping hosts with free seafood product samples, coupons, recipes, and tip sheets to share with friends and family.

The coming months will include a number of additional #SeafoodParty events, contests, and resources, including fun appetizer recipe ideas just in time for tailgating season and fall holidays. Follow SNP and the hashtag #SeafoodParty on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Pinterest.
Pledging to eat at least two servings of seafood each week and/or taking supplements with omega-3s like fish oil as recommended by the Dietary Guidelines for Americans is a step in the right direction for improving overall health and reducing the risk of heart disease.
