Fundraising Event Aimed to Support Eufaula Downtown Revitalization

EUFAULA, Okla., February 13, 2017 — Vision Eufaula, a volunteer group of citizens and business owners created to revitalize downtown Eufaula, will host its first annual Spring Break Festival featuring food, live music and entertainment on March 10 and 11.

The two-day event features food trucks, beer garden, live music, street dance, hot dog eating contest, bounce house, live mannequins, mimes, scavenger hunt, Pam’s Academy of Dance performances and a community “jail and bail” which allows for citizens to pay to have their friends arrested and serve time in a makeshift jail until they raise funds to post bail.

Kicking off Friday, March 10 at 5:30 p.m. until 10 p.m. and continuing Saturday, March 11 from 10 a.m. until late, the event will block three side streets off of Main Street to host the activities. Food trucks from Tulsa, Oklahoma City and the surrounding area will set up on Selmon Road, the kid zone will be on Pine Avenue, and arts and crafts vendors will organize along Foley Avenue.

“The Spring Break Festival is the first of several events planned for the year to raise funds for our community vision,” said Karen Weldin, the driving force behind the Vision Eufaula efforts. “We will use these funds to develop a branding campaign that positions Eufaula as a year-round destination for all.”

Live music is a main feature to the event featuring area bands such as Bluefish, Last Call Band, Shiloh & Going for Broke, and Janiece Vest. Additionally, local celebrity Don “Katt Daddy” Brewer will be onsite celebrating the grand opening of his new sports bar in downtown Eufaula.

“The mission of Vision Eufaula is to bring about change and transformation of our downtown community,” said Weldin. “Our committee put in a lot of hours planning this kickoff event and we anticipate a great turnout that includes our surrounding community and our weekend lake friends.”
