Schedule Set for 2015 Oklahoma Regatta Festival

OKLAHOMA CITY – Sept. 24, 2015 The 2015 Oklahoma Regatta Festival will take place Oct. 1 through 4 in the Boathouse District in downtown Oklahoma City.

New for 2015, in a partnership with the Myriad Botanical Gardens, the Oklahoma City Boathouse Foundation presents Quixotic Cirque Nouveau on Friday night at 7:30. Cirque Nouveau fuses visual art, live music, dance, acrobatics and an altogether unique performance by Quixotic, an innovative entertainment troupe based in Kansas City. Admission is free to this open-air show on the SandRidge Skytrail and spectators are encouraged to bring blankets and folding chairs. A fireworks display will follow at 9 P.M.

The family festival will feature more than 20 food trucks over four days, a beer and wine garden to enjoy during races, live music Saturday afternoon and several merchandise vendors with official event t-shirts, rowing gear and other items for purchase. The family festival will be Thursday and Friday from 6 to 10 P.M. and Saturday from 10 A.M. to 10 P.M. Admission is free.

Every evening, the OGE Night Sprints bring night racing again to the Oklahoma River. The 500 meter sprints under the lights feature dragon boat races and rowing races for medals and bragging rights. The action takes place after sunset, Thursday and Friday nights from 6 to 10 P.M. and Saturday 7 to 10 P.M.

In addition to Friday’s fireworks, there will also be a fireworks display at the end of Saturday’s OGE Night Sprints at 10 P.M.

The Oklahoma City University Head of the Oklahoma includes 2.5 mile head racing during the day and 500m OGE Night Sprints Saturday evening under the lights. Events include collegiate, masters and junior rowing as well as kayak and dragon boat racing. Racing for this event will be Saturday from 10 A.M. to 10 P.M. and Sunday 8 A.M. to 12 P.M.

RIVERSPORT Adventures, including the SandRidge Skytrail and Skyzip, will be open on Thursday and Friday from 6 P.M. to 10 P.M., Saturday from 1 to 10 P.M. and Sunday from 1 to 8 P.M.

Sunday morning will begin with the 11th annual INTEGRIS Jim Thorpe Courage Run at 7:30 A.M. The Courage Run offered races for all ages, including a One-Mile Family Fun Run/Walk, 5km and 10km run/walk, and 5km and 10km wheelchair and handcycle divisions.
